BACK IN THE HEART OF THE CITY

Hello Family!!

This week was so busy and crazy! On Monday I had my last 8 hour bus ride from Battambang (the best news of the year) I spent a solid 170 hours on that bus and to say the least I am happy I don't have to be traveling so much :) We had MLC on Tuesday and Sister Lewis made us some french toast for breakfast - she loves feeding people its the best! Wednesday Sister Clark and I were over the leadership meeting for transfers. In meetings President always tells us to prepare and make the room like a celestial room so we can prepare to receive revelation. Transfers were at the mission home and so it was a little chaotic outside the meeting room and President says "Its hard to be in the celestial room when the telestial is right next door."

We finally got to proselyte and get to know our areas a little better. We are white washing Tuol Kork and we are also over Tuk La'ak, I still haven't met all of our investigators because we didn't have a lot of proselyting time. The first week of the transfer is always a little crazy. We were also over Koon Training (we call all the new missionaries koons) which was fun to be able to get to know them a little better and meet with the trainers.

We had so many people to meet this week and we weren't sure how we were going to find any new investigators, we had an extra 15 minutes in between lessons and so we were planning on going out to contact and we had Srei Rat just walk into the church and said that she wanted to learn. Heavenly Father really is preparing the road and blessed us with a new investigator!

We had a cool spiritual thought for English class this week, we just had everyone write down any questions they had about the church and we went through each one and answered them through the Book of Mormon. The Book of Mormon really does answer all the questions of the soul. We met another investigator this week Dalin who has been learning for a very long time and so we just decided to read the Book of Mormon with her and apply every verse to her life. It was so cool, she really seemed to understand and I hope this is what will help her progress. I know that the Book of Mormon has power in each of our lives and as we read it we will be protected from the evils of the world, and be more receptive to spiritual promptings!!

Love,
Sister Stratford

The new area is great! I actually found out we are over 2 areas now, white washing one so we have tuol kork and tuk lák. My new comp is way good! She just gets it and it is so nice to be with a proactive effective and efficient companion. I am really looking forward to these next two transfers with her. This week has been a little crazy being sstl. We had MLC and then a leadership training for transfers and the new missionary orientation that we were in charge of. Keeps us on on our toes and we had a lot of planning to do. The new apartment is SO NICE it is clean, no bug problems -HAS A GYM!!!! I love it, the ac in the room isnt good but we should be getting that fixed up today to sleeping will be better. So Sister Clark was actually in my ward at BYU - we never knew each other but she is awesome. She is really into mountain biking and we get along great. So I know we meet with president every monday and we do a lot of trainings and exchanges but I still dont know everything. The mission president is awesome, he is so meek and loving and I am looking forward to getting to know him better. I have gotten to know his wife a little bit from sleeping at the mission home she is cute. We get to spend time teaching and finding as well as training - we just kind of do whatever president needs this week we didnt have a lot of time to proselyte but this next week we should have more time.

RAID - A MAN'S BEST FRIEND

This week was filled with lots of bugs!!! First when we woke up on Wednesday morning in the bathroom there was a three legged spider about as big as my head and super thick above the toilet, scared me half to death. Second we have a mouse problem because all of our bananas that we left on top of the fridge have a bite taken out of them. Third we kill an average of 6 cockroaches a day out here BUT thankfully Raid saved the day!!! What would we do without it? Also I raided a lizard this week just for fun, they don't really bother me but I wanted to see what it would do, after I raided it it flopped off my desk and detached its tail so this tail is just squirming under my desk for a good 5 minutes and the head just roamed off, still haven't found it.

Anyway, we had zone conference this week and the training we decided to give was on the desire to become, I thought it went pretty well, and the other missionaries gave us good feedback so that was really fun. We had out zone conference up in Siem Riep - I hope I can serve there someday. We went to the bamboo train with all the missionaries in Battambang as well which was a blast I will send pics.

We went to meet Ming Houet and her family this week, they are my RC's. We taught them about the temple and they got SO EXCITED!!! We started making plans and setting goal with them about saving enough money to go to the temple. Their dad still isn't a member, and so we did a special fast with them that their dad would soften his heart to learn with the missionaries. I am curious to see how that goes. They are an amazing family and so full of faith for the future and going to the temple to get sealed as a family.

Kanya has a baptismal date! And Ma is still progressing really well. Thida and Om Uian got confirmed this week! We got transfer calls this week and I am heading to Tuk Laat with Sister Clark to be SSTL's. I will really miss Battambang and all the amazing people here but I am looking forward to serve in Phnom Penh again.

I really love this parable about becoming what our Heavenly Father needs us to be:

A wealthy father knew that if he were to bestow his wealth upon a child who had not yet developed the needed wisdom and stature, the inheritance would probably be wasted. The father said to his child:
“All that I have I desire to give you—not only my wealth, but also my position and standing among men. That which I have I can easily give you, but that which I am you must obtain for yourself. You will qualify for your inheritance by learning what I have learned and by living as I have lived. I will give you the laws and principles by which I have acquired my wisdom and stature. Follow my example, mastering as I have mastered, and you will become as I am, and all that I have will be yours.”
I love this and know that if we truly want to become like our Heavenly Father, we need to desire to do so, and as we let these desires work in us we will continually become more converted and become as He is!
