We also accidently were in the middle of a campaigning parade on our way home last night there were thousands of people on moto's and I may have broken a my ear drums but it was kinda fun.
Mey's mom is now an investigator! We have been working on her for a long time now. She told us about 3 weeks ago that she didnt want to learn for another year or so when she wasn't so busy with work so we were sad and stopped bothering her about it. BUT this week when we were teaching her daughter she came over to me and said "Sister I read the book of mormon sometimes but I dont understand it" WELL LET ME EXPLAIN IT TO YOU, she had lots of really great questions and even sat in on our lesson with her daughter (never happens she usually goes to the neighbors house when we come over) and asked us when we would come back to tell her more. We are so pumped to teach her she is so cute.
So apparently pioneer day is a huge deal out here in Cambodia, not sure why but we had a big activity this weekend which was really fun. Also I don't remember if I told you about the Om we met at the exercise park but we went to lunch with him this week, and another girl named Marsha from Ohio (who the om brought) that is on an internship here from Princeton. She was way cool and I definitely think she is being prepared to receive the gospel, she is only here 2 more weeks but it was cool to speak english and get to know her a little better.
Also I don't remember if I told you about Mike or not? But he is from Uganda and we met him at the grocery store a few weeks ago and he was asking us a lot about what our doctrine is and who we were and we got his number, anyway long story short HE CAME TO CHURCH YESTERDAY. And is now learning with the Elders. He is a methodist and is here with his church and is a missionary for them but is now learning from us.
Another miracle Kanya met with us!! Usually we have the problem where investigators will meet with us but not come to church, she has been coming to church for about 4 months but can never meet, anyway she is back and we hope to get her on date.
The topic of desires has been a big topic of study these last couple weeks, I just want to share a few thoughts.
"What we insistently desires over time, is what we will eventually become and what we will receive in eternity... let us remember that desires dictate our priorities, priorities shape our choices, and choices determine our actions. In addition it is our actions and our desires that cause us to become something."
Wow. This is so powerful and I found myself pondering what I actually desire right now in my life and I am trying to work on educating my desires to make them more pure and holy and righteous so that I become so. I think one of the biggest things is just experimenting upon the word and striving to be obedient and act with faith.
I love in 1 nephi 8:12 where after Lehi "experiments upon the word" then he is desirous to share it with others and his family. "God will work with us, but the initiating particle of desire which ignites the spark of resolve must be our own." We really do get whatever we desire in this life and that is why our desires are so important! But as we are giving away all our sins to know God we will become who He needs us to be! Our desires need to be heartfelt, unwavering and permanent. I know as we strive to educate our desires Heavenly Father will help lift and guide us along the way!
Love Sister Ford
